red wine tonight

not white

or pink

the one you think

won’t be as lethal

until you’ve necked

the bottle

no

red it was

just when you thought

you might be

more restrained

this year

until you read the news

found no excuse

in that

for any more restraint

when no one else

restrains themselves

or gives a toss

and not that it would matter

if they did

the die is cast

last drinks

is what we want

until

the very
