Jan 26th

do you ever

revisit

lockdown lurks

places we found

in the nearby

when we were forbidden

to go very far

by car

I found myself

drawn to my local roost

today

remembered

being sat there

alone

at the wheel

with my extra extra hot

judging how far

from the car

to the bin

to thoughtfully

dispose of my cup

fully masked up

one eye out for

dobbers

the other from habit

for robbers

distracted by dogs

running hard

by the river

tirra lira

the beautiful, the beautiful

ri-i-ver

the lovely river

the mighty Nong

our frenemy

then and in dark times

to come

such a peaceful bend

in the ebb and flow

beneath the shadows of

old Footscray Tech

all grasslands and

bike paths

and swaying palms

kayaks and joggers

musclebound arms

daggy but gorgeous

Western charms.
