another day

another mother

gone forever

another grieving daughter

wishing

she’d been

sweeter

nicer

listened more

took some time to

treasure

precious moments left

too late to weep

bereft

70 is a cruel decade

old enough

I guess

and yet

too young

to mend those

bridges

ask hard

questions

see the person

for the blood

sweet forgiveness
