with crepe myrtle

by the roadside

growing free

pink and purple

frothy flora

amongst garbage

and the dumpsters

and the tagging

and the phō shops

pizza parlours

and the junkies

what have we done

council

to receive this

glorious bounty

you’re not usually

this nice

good god

there’s even white

not generally

so generous

or tasteful

with the free stuff

especially
