CURFEW 31

DAY 31 – Sept 2 no Show! it just hit me this time of year my side of town is go go go with carneys moving in erecting big tall things that spin and you can smell the dung and straw for miles hear the din of sheep and cattle disco pop and fireworks light up the room each night at 8 o’clock no Show! what about those jams blue ribbon marmalades fruit cakes and woodchipping crochet knitting and wooly baby lambs where’s the country gonna go this year without the Royal Show? sure you can buy a showbag for the kids online but it’s not the same as standing in a sunbaked windswept queue for days safe in the knowledge your reward will be a lovely cuppa tea and creamy scones baked by the CWA

no Show! that’s a body blow and the hits keep coming Brisbane Granny abomination will Sydney finally get its greasy mits on the race that stops a nation? this year’s gone crackers fingers crossed we’ll pull some this December with the family round the lobster wear Christmas hats and read the jokes and raise a toast to Dan and all the crew who’ll get us through this annus horribilis.
