The voice is the one part of the body which gets better with age.
It ripens, matures, gets to know all the right buttons to push and never loses the desire to burst into song.
I love doing gigs and would continue to do so if I could just find an audience - people who like me are in bed by 9.30pm.
As with my acting career, I never planned to be a singer and have no formal training.
I can't read music or play an instrument, but I can sing the shit out of a song !
It took too long for me to record a solo CD but I am immensely proud of The Marriage of Style. There will be no more records.

It's hard to believe that legendary Melbourne singer/actress Jane Clifton has waited until now to record her first solo album.
Acting and singing have always gone hand in hand for Jane, but after her recordings with 70s Carlton band STILETTO, her 1983 Top Ten hit single GIRL ON THE WALL and her feature vocal on the JO JO ZEP hit TAXI MARY Jane took a sideways step to concentrate on her acting career. Famous around the world as MARGO from Prisoner, Jane Clifton remains constantly on the stage and screen - most notably in the hit national touring show MUM'S THE WORD. In 2001 Jane started work on The Marriage of Style an ambitious independent recording documenting her continuous interest in a variety of musical styles. Engaging James Black as her Producer (The Black Sorrows, The Revelators, Bluehouse, Things of Stone and Wood) and armed with a batch of her own songs, Jane began to compile an eclectic collection from her favourite local writers including Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer, Eric McCusker and Sally Ford. A couple of re-workings of old songs Music to Watch Girls Go By and You?re my World rounded out the mix. Michael Letho one of Australias best known recording engineers mixed the tracks in late 2002 and the final result is a sophisticated adult pop album with a broad appeal and a strong jazz flavour. Many of Australias leading musicians performed on The Marriage of Style an indication of the regard in which she is held. The stellar list includes Steve Hadley, Peter Jones, James Black, Lindsay Field, Joe Camilleri, Paul Williamson, Geoffrey Burstin, Sam Keevers, Sam See, Scott Tinkler and John McAll.
